First Track

A name of their own.

Matt Ilic and Sasha Faris came to First Track with deep real-estate roots and a shared determination to build differently. Their company needed an identity that made that distinction clear: not an extension of the family businesses, but an investment and development business with its own people, convictions and place in Vancouver. The rebrand began ahead of Woodland Block’s launch, connecting the company’s introduction with the community it was about to build.

Building better. Together.

01 / The reset

Recognisable. Without the distance.

The discovery work exposed a simple problem: people knew the name, but still needed the business explained. First Track wanted to be recognised for Matt and Sasha’s own approach—direct, collaborative and attentive to the people behind each project.

BSMNT translated that ambition into a creative brief and brought Letterbox into the rebrand: the identity needed to stand apart from conventional developer branding without becoming remote or exclusive. Letterbox’s identity answered with a restrained black-and-white language and a confident wordmark. The human presence mattered just as much: the founders, their conversations and their work became part of the company’s public introduction.

02 / The company in the world

More than a new look.

“Building better. Together.” gave the company a shared idea, but its credibility came from how First Track behaved. Woodland Block connected that conviction to an East Vancouver neighbourhood; Gibson House brought it to the careful renewal of a heritage property. Different projects, held together by a willingness to listen and work with others.

The corporate brochure, website and investor communications gave that story a consistent home. A January/February 2023 BCBusiness cover and partner feature brought the founders and their community commitments into focus—including the temporary use of vacant homes to welcome Ukrainian refugees. The rebrand made the business clearer; the people and projects gave it substance.
