Gibson House

Honouring history. Embracing tomorrow.

At Napier and Semlin, a house built in 1908 makes room for a new generation. Its restoration as a duplex, alongside five new infill homes, keeps the familiar corner intact while creating seven family homes in Grandview-Woodland.

The heritage

A place already belonging.

The original house holds its place on Napier. New homes step back beside it; the historic stone fence is retained, and colours drawn from Vancouver’s Heritage Colour Collection give each address its own character. The change is considered at the scale of the street.

BSMNT’s work began with the homes themselves: comparable family housing, floor plans and interior specifications. The identity followed that same intention—connecting old and new without erasing their differences.

Signage along Napier and Semlin brought the identity to the site, introducing the collection to its neighbours before the homes were complete.
